                                                                                                  o

arvard Model Congress was an enriching
Hexperience which allowed me to expand my
knowledge on something I didn’t know much
about: the US Congress. Through this international
conference, the preparation and research, I now
know how each bill and piece of legislation is
passed in the US, different political views, and I
have learned a lot from my committee, House of
Education and Labor, but also other committees,
from our full sessions, like House Intelligence,
House Science, Space and Technology, and the
senate, and surely from our diverse topics which
ranged from Food Insecurity in US public schools,
to drug trafficking, to cyber-security. The training I
got from The Council Leadership Academy, as well
as the conference itself have taught me a great deal
          about collaboration, compromise, public speaking,
role-playing, problem-solving, and enabled me to
express my ideas in a diplomatic and structured
debate. I now realize, having conducted several
speeches in front of over 100 people, I am very
comfortable with public speaking and quite love it.
These skills, as well as that of communication which
is of utmost importance, will benefit me immensely
in the future. Most importantly, I devoted a lot
of my time into the trainings, the research, and
writing speeches. I remember before going into
the conference, I’d listen to metal rock in order
to increase my adrenaline. I went in thinking I had
everything it takes, like a wolf. And that’s how I won
Best Delegate. And that’s how I learned that hard
work truly pays off, and I will continue to set goals
for myself and work hard to accomplish them.
It was an absolute honor to represent our school
during this conference. Reminiscing on HMC and
how greatly it allowed me to grow, I wish my peers
could have had such an amazing opportunity, which
is why I encourage every student to participate in
such important and eye-opening programs, thereby
honoring our school and raising its great name on
an international scale more and more.
