even though I finished school. I keep coming back
because it’s the same choir and we keep adding new
members to it, which makes it more pleasurable than it
already is. I have lots of fun when I come here, and the
atmosphere is beautiful.”
Finally, I asked the maestro on the ground a few
questions. Manale Assaf is the one taking care of the
students in this choir. She organizes rehearsals, makes
sure everyone’s in line, and never misses a beat.
Q: What’s it like conducting a school choir?
A: Conducting a school choir is both exhilarating and
challenging. Coming from an opera singing background,
I initially found the transition stressful. However, with
guidance from Haytham Azzi and additional training, I
refined my skills.

influencing and connecting with others. This

Q: Can you tell us what’s next for the Notre
Dame de Jamhour Choir?
A: The future holds endless possibilities for our
choir; every year brings new adventures and
opportunities. Reflecting on our past endeavors,
last year was particularly memorable as we had
the privilege of performing at Deir el Qamar
and embarking on a touristic tour.
Q: Do you find it is challenging to prepare for concerts? Building on this momentum, we are thrilled to announce

Q: What were your first impressions of the job ahead?
A: “My initial impressions upon joining the choir were
a mix of excitement and slight nervousness. As a shy
person, stepping into a new environment can be
daunting. However, my previous experience conducting
and leading choirs in my hometown as well as teaching
Latin dance in schools has instilled in me a passion for
